FL Rep Introduces Bill to Permit Open Carry
According to First Coast News, Florida State Representative Joel Rudman has introduced House Bill 31, aiming to permit open carry of firearms and repeal the state's "red flag" law. Enacted after the 2018 Parkland school shooting, the red flag law allows courts to confiscate firearms from individuals deemed a threat to themselves or others.
Rudman's proposal would also permit firearms in currently restricted areas, including polling places, college campuses, and career centers. As Rudman plans to resign on January 1 to pursue a congressional seat, the bill's future is uncertain, especially given Senate President Ben Albritton's expressed opposition to open carry.
