Governor DeSantis Appoints James W. Campo to Serve on the 2024 Electoral College

On August 24th, Governor Ron DeSantis confirmed an exciting appointment for the Martin County Republican community. James W. Campo, CFP, of Sewall’s Point, Florida, was selected by the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) to serve as an elector for the 2024 Presidential Election. This honor placed Campo among the thirty individuals chosen to represent the State of Florida in the Electoral College.

The Electoral College is a cornerstone of America’s democratic process, consisting of 538 votes allocated to states based on their congressional representation. Florida’s growing influence was demonstrated in 2020 when the state gained an additional electoral vote, bringing its total to thirty. On December 17, 2024, the thirty electors will convene in Tallahassee to cast their votes for President and Vice President, confirming the election of Republican nominee Donald J. Trump as the 47th President of the United States. These votes will be certified by Congress on January 6, 2025.

Campo’s role in this historic election highlights his dedication to public service and the principles of the Republican Party. Reflecting on this milestone, Campo expressed his gratitude and sense of duty:

“It is with an immense sense of reverence that I accept my designation to the 2024 Electoral College. I see no other way to proudly display my unwavering commitment to my party, my love for my home state, and most importantly, the heralded American election process outlined in the framework of the Constitution. I am looking forward to being a part of this historic moment. I am grateful for Governor DeSantis’ and the RPOF’s ongoing trust.”

James W. Campo’s service to Florida extends far beyond his role as an elector. As an officer on the Executive Board of the Republican Party of Florida and the Assistant Treasurer of the RPOF, Campo has played a key role in advancing conservative values across the state.
