Brown v. Board of Education is 70 Years Old

Cheryl Brown Henderson always said: “Schools were the battle, but society was the target.” Her maiden name is the title of the famous lawsuit above.

Biden was a child of 11 when this occurred. As President he is commemorating the decision with a series of events:

*remarks at the African-American Museum in D.C.

*a closed-door meeting with leaders of Black fraternities and sororities

*giving the commencement address at Morehouse College, a private college for Blacks in Atlanta.

As a senator in the 70s, we recall how vociferous his stand was against forced integration via “busing.” That was the process where Black students were bussed into White communities for school to increase racial diversity. He did have two elementary school-aged sons at the time. His opposition led to a failed effort to quash the procedure in the senate.

He frequently railed against Jim Crow laws during his campaigns. When one either recalls his/her history classes or from having lived through the time period, we remember that it was Southern Democrats that passed these laws as they were promulgating the concept of “separate but equal.”

His mentor in the senate was a former Ku Klux Klansman and Biden gave the eulogy when he passed. The Ku Klux Klan grew into White Southern culture. Started in 1860s, it was formed against Catholics (hence the burning crosses), Jews, as well as Blacks). Sen. Robert Byrd was formerly an “exalted cyclops,” meaning a local Klan leader.

Much later, during the 2019 presidential debate where he was seeking the nomination for president, he came under fire by his current VP, Kamala Harris, who claimed to have been bused to school as a child.

So, Vegetable Man has never been what one would call “a true, blue American.” Do your homework if you disagree.

In liberty,

Audrey Taggart
