There is a mystery in Martin County. Wherever we look, we see and hear a call on how to deal with the massive amount of traffic, particularly on Federal Highway – aka US 1. What is to be done to reduce traffic?

I can report the answer as can nearly all resident/taxpayers. The recent history in the county and why we loved it here is mainly that we had representatives on the county board who actually represented the majority of residents. There were years of “no-growth” philosophy followed by followers of “slow growth” mentality on the board.

At present, there is a majority of the Martin County Board of County Commissioners who seem addicted to paving over all remaining vacant land. And to add insult to injury they are pushing apartment living – a large component of the Obama/Biden goal. The Democrat party is striving to push citification – and the end of single-family units on towns and villages all across out beloved country where once there was freedom to choose. I guess it is easier to control folks when they live in conglomerates.

In NYC and most cities, a resident entered the elevator to get back to his apartment. During the COVID-19 hysteria, one would have to wait in line to return up 5 or more stories - as only singles or family units could access the elevator. This could cause a 15 minute errand into a 45 minute errand, if not more. Now we have 4 four story apartment buildings being constructed by Costco. We have rental units up and down US 1, through Stuart, Hobe Sound, etc. It is any wonder the schools have children speaking more than 50 languages?

And what will happen if another so-called pandemic occurs? Do our “representatives” think of the future?

Have the board declare NO MORE RENTALS for a start. Taxpayers choose them more knowledgeably. Direct use Green River Parkway or A1A in the meantime with signage.
